North Texas defeated UNLV 44-6 in Denton, giving first-year coach Nate Brown his first victory after the Mean Green opened the season with a heavy loss to defending national champion Indiana. Tayven Jackson passed for 233 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing score, and Jahiem White rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns. North Texas’ defense forced five fumbles, recovered three, recorded four sacks and intercepted one pass, while UNLV managed only two field goals. North Texas improved to 1-1, while UNLV fell to 1-2. North Texas visits Texas State next week, and UNLV travels to Akron.
