Edwards Leads Michigan State Past Eastern Michigan, 35-7

Michigan State improved to 2-0 under coach Pat Fitzgerald with a 35-7 victory over Eastern Michigan in East Lansing. The Spartans led 14-7 at halftime before pulling away with three second-half touchdowns, outgaining the Eagles 472-219 and scoring on 10 of 15 third downs. Cam Edwards rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries, while quarterback Alessio Milivojevic passed for 170 yards and two touchdowns, including a 38-yard strike to Charles Taplin. Eastern Michigan quarterback Noah Kim, a former Michigan State player, threw for 118 yards and scored the Eagles’ only touchdown. Michigan State next travels to face No. 3 Notre Dame.

The Spartans outgained Eastern Michigan by more than 250 yards and took control after halftime. They look ready to test themselves at Notre Dame.
Cam Edwards ran hard for those 152 yards and two scores. That kind of production should help against a tougher defense next week.
