Colts Place Alec Pierce on Injured Reserve
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce will miss at least four games after being placed on injured reserve with an aggravated left-heel injury suffered in the overtime loss to Kansas City. The injury affects the same heel he had surgically repaired in March, and he will initially pursue rehabilitation rather than another operation, although further surgery remains possible if his recovery falters. Reports estimate a four-to-six-week absence, but the Colts have not provided a firm return timetable. Pierce, who signed a four-year, $114 million contract after his first 1,000-yard season, is a significant loss for the 0-2 Colts. Indianapolis signed veteran receiver Darius Slayton, while Josh Downs, Keenan Allen and other offensive players are expected to take on larger roles.
