Ronaldo, 41, Selected for Portugal Nations League Squad
Cristiano Ronaldo, 41, has been included in Portugal’s first squad under new head coach Jorge Jesus, continuing his international career after the 2026 World Cup, which he has said will be his last. Ronaldo, Portugal’s record scorer and most-capped player with 233 appearances and 146 goals, will lead a 25-player squad as Portugal begins defending its UEFA Nations League title. Jesus previously coached Ronaldo at Al-Nassr and has also selected Nuno Tavares, Samuel Soares, João Palhinha and Fábio Silva, alongside established players including Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Rafael Leão and Gonçalo Ramos. Portugal’s League A Group 4 campaign is scheduled to include matches against Wales, Norway and Denmark beginning September 24, 2026, although published accounts differ on some schedule details.
