UEFA, CONCACAF Seek FIFA Review, $2.1B Payout

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin and CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani are urging FIFA President Gianni Infantino to distribute at least $10 million to each of FIFA’s 211 member associations during the 2027–30 cycle, totaling about $2.1 billion. They say the funds could support infrastructure and football development, remain separate from the existing FIFA Forward programme, and leave FIFA with roughly $1.5 billion from an expected $6 billion in reserves. The proposal follows the collapse of FIFA Forward Enterprise, a plan to sell outside investors stakes in FIFA competitions that prompted backlash and intensified opposition to Infantino. The confederation leaders have also requested an independent review of FIFA’s finances to determine how much can responsibly be distributed. FIFA’s Council is expected to consider the plan on October 15, ahead of the March 2027 presidential election, in which Infantino is expected to seek another term.
