Antonio Brown expected to accept plea deal avoiding prison in shooting case

Former NFL star Antonio Brown is expected to accept a proposed plea agreement on Sept. 30 in Miami-Dade County court, resolving an attempted second-degree murder case stemming from a May 2025 shooting outside a Miami boxing event. Under the deal, reportedly subject to court approval, the charge would be reduced to aggravated assault and Brown would receive probation with no prison, jail or house arrest, while staying away from the alleged victim. The agreement would spare Brown a possible 20-year mandatory minimum and up to 30 years in prison. Prosecutors alleged that Brown took a security guard’s gun and fired at Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, grazing his neck. Brown maintains he acted in self-defense under Florida’s Stand Your Ground law and says accepting the deal is not an admission of the allegations; Nantambu has said he no longer wishes to participate in the prosecution.
