The venue was chosen after discussions about Wembley and a possible New York date; Cardiff’s retractable roof and ability to host a late-night event helped make it viable. The bout is promoted by Turki Alalshikh in collaboration with Dana White and The Ring. Both fighters won July warm-up bouts; Joshua stopped Kristian Prenga after being knocked down twice. Fury enters with a 36-2-1 record and Joshua with a 30-4 record, and both are former heavyweight champions.
