LSU Rolls Past McNeese State 63-14
After its 35-6 win over Texas A&M, LSU was 4-1 and FanDuel listed the Tigers at -115 to reach the 12-team College Football Playoff and +1600 to win the national championship. LSU then beat McNeese State 63-14, taking a 35-0 lead before rotating players. Quarterback Sam Leavitt completed 18 of 23 passes for 183 yards, three touchdowns and an interception despite a recent hamstring tweak; LSU limited his exposure by keeping him from rushing. Defensive tackle Deuce Geralds scored on a direct snap, becoming the first LSU player to record a sack and an offensive touchdown in one game, while backup Landen Clark and running back Harlem Berry also scored. Former LSU lineman Breiden Fehoko cautioned that Leavitt’s passing mistakes could be costly against stronger SEC opponents, as LSU navigates significant injuries and prepares for a demanding conference schedule.
