Saints plan 20-year post-Katrina Superdome celebration
The New Orleans Saints are marking the 20th anniversary of their return to the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina with Monday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, the same opponent they faced in the 2006 Domecoming. That emotional 23-3 victory—sparked by Steve Gleason’s blocked punt, recovered for a touchdown by Curtis Deloatch—became a symbol of the city’s resilience and recovery. The anniversary celebration includes a second-line parade, music and performances before and during the game, and tributes to Gleason, Deloatch and members of the 2006 team. Irma Thomas will sing the national anthem, while Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue lead a halftime show featuring New Orleans and other musical artists.
