Colorado State Fires Tyson Summers After Midgame Demotion
Colorado State coach Jim Mora dismissed defensive coordinator Tyson Summers during the first half of the Rams’ 56-26 loss to Oregon State, removing him from play-calling duties after the Beavers took a 14-0 lead. Summers left the field and is no longer with the program; Mora said the departure was permanent, while Summers chose to leave after being relieved of his duties. Co-defensive coordinator Kenny McClendon took over play-calling and is expected to lead the defense. Oregon State finished with 727 yards, a Beavers record, while Colorado State’s defense had allowed 100 points in its previous two games. The loss dropped the Rams to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play, with three straight defeats, as Oregon State opened Pac-12 action with a decisive win.
