Jaguars Build AFC Contender Case at 3-1

At 3-1, the Jacksonville Jaguars are strengthening their case as a serious AFC contender, with a 22-17 road win over Cincinnati showing they can win close games as well as dominate. They have spent nearly all season playing with the lead and, since Week 11 last season, have won 11 of 12 regular-season games while ranking among the league’s strongest teams across all three phases. Trevor Lawrence has opened the season with career-best passing numbers, and Jacksonville’s balanced offense and opportunistic defense have helped it compensate when key players are limited or injured. The Bengals game also exposed a discipline concern, as Jacksonville committed 125 penalty yards, while backup safety Rayuan Lane made a crucial fourth-down stop to seal the victory. Analysts have praised the Jaguars’ road performance, physicality and AFC South position, though injuries in the secondary remain a concern.
