Pat McAfee Announces $1 Million Iowa Hospital Donation

Pat McAfee had offered to donate $1 million to University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital if student kicker Finley Banfig made her College GameDay field-goal attempt in Iowa City. After she missed and former Hawkeye Dallas Clark put a ball through the uprights, McAfee initially offered $150,000 each to Banfig and the hospital. Following criticism that he should honor the original pledge, McAfee agreed the criticism was fair and announced a separate $1 million donation to the hospital on October 5. He said a visit with patients, families and staff inspired the donation, and that the experience resonated with him because of his own family’s time in a neonatal intensive care unit.
