Elko Calls Texas A&M Fan Site ‘Cesspool’ After Loss
Texas A&M lost 27-6 at No. 14 Missouri on Oct. 10, 2026, dropping to 3-3 and 1-3 in the SEC—its third loss in four games. The Aggies gained 216 total yards and 29 rushing yards on 23 carries. Marcel Reed went 19 of 39 for 187 yards and two interceptions, has not thrown a touchdown since Sept. 19 against Kentucky, and the offense scored no touchdown for a second straight SEC road game. In the postgame press conference Elko separated the fan base from social media: "There's a difference to me between the fan base and social media. So there's one group that I really don't care much about. Billy's cesspool (at TexAgs) can go be Billy's cesspool." He told fans to stay behind the team and said it would build what it promised. Asked about Brady Hart at quarterback over Reed, he said it does not feel like the move that would help and he will do whatever he believes is right. About an hour later Liucci wrote on X that he would show restraint but called the remarks a "wildly unnecessary misstep" against loyal, frustrated fans. CONTESTED: Elko cast the target as social media distinct from the fan base; Liucci cast the same comments as a call-out of a large loyal fan portion. The Aggies reached the 2025 College Football Playoff at 11-1, opened 2026 ranked No. 8, and lost coordinator Collin Klein to Kansas State. They next host The Citadel, then Alabama.
