SEC Fines Kentucky $500,000 After LSU Field Storm
Kentucky upset No. 10 LSU 35-34 in overtime Saturday at Kroger Field, converting a two-point try for the win before fans rushed the field. The SEC fined Kentucky $500,000 for violating its policy barring spectators from entering the competition area; because the game was a conference matchup, the money will go to LSU. The SEC applies a uniform $500,000 penalty for such violations across its sports, under a rule revised in 2025, but may waive the fine if visiting personnel and officials have safely left the playing surface before fans enter.
