Jacobs Cleared to Return as NFL Investigation Continues
The NFL will remove Packers running back Josh Jacobs from the commissioner’s exempt list on Oct. 19, making him eligible to practice and play in Green Bay’s Oct. 25 game at Detroit after he missed the first six games. Jacobs pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and criminal-damage charges stemming from a May altercation with his then-girlfriend. The league’s personal-conduct investigation remains open and could result in additional discipline; the NFL is seeking surveillance video of the incident, which has not been publicly released. Jacobs has sued local police to keep evidence sealed, arguing disclosure could threaten privacy and safety, and the woman involved has also sought to seal records. The NFL’s decision to restore Jacobs’ eligibility before completing its review has drawn scrutiny because the video could affect any eventual punishment.
