UMD suspends club team over alleged racist imagery

The University of Maryland suspended its entire club tennis team indefinitely after learning that some members emailed tournament materials containing racist imagery targeting Black people to other university tennis clubs. The team forfeited its tournament matches, while student leaders and university officials apologized to participating teams; the tournament continued for the other clubs. The incident was referred to campus police, and the university’s Office of Student Conduct is investigating.
