Oregon Football Coach Fired After 63-0 Win
Marist Catholic High School in Eugene, Oregon, dismissed varsity football coach Zach Loboy after the team’s 63-0 first-half lead over Cottage Grove, whose roster reportedly had only 16 players. The Spartans attempted two onside kicks, including one while leading by 56 points late in the second quarter, and scored again after an interception; school and athletic officials agreed not to play the second half. The school said the leadership change was needed to reflect its mission and values but did not publicly specify the precise reason, while reports linked the decision to concerns about running up the score. Jake Lowther was named interim coach for the rest of the season.
