Royals unveil updated $1.9 billion stadium design
The Royals unveiled updated designs for a proposed $1.9 billion stadium at Kansas City’s Crown Center, featuring an expanded Crown Vision scoreboard that fans can walk into and fountains as a signature feature. The ballpark would anchor a roughly $3 billion development combining stadium facilities with retail, entertainment and other mixed-use projects. Kansas City approved a financing framework that includes $560 million in city bonds, while the Royals would provide at least $760 million in private funding and cover cost overruns. Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with the team targeting an opening for the 2030 season.
