Michigan Offense Ranks 98th Rushing, 116th Passing
Michigan’s offense has struggled through the first five games, scoring fewer than 20 points four times and averaging 23 points per game as the Wolverines lost to Minnesota 20-14 for their second straight defeat. The unit ranks 98th nationally in rushing and 116th in passing, with quarterback Bryce Underwood’s inconsistency, a struggling offensive line and an ineffective ground game contributing. Offensive coordinator Jason Beck acknowledged the problems and said the staff is reviewing its approach, including emphasizing north-south runs after the bye week instead of unproductive perimeter plays. Beck rejected the idea that Michigan lacks talent, identified execution as a central issue and defended the heavier Rhino package as the team’s most efficient grouping.
