Red Bull Extends Mekies Contract Through 2031 After Turnaround
Red Bull has extended CEO and team principal Laurent Mekies’ contract through the 2031 season. Mekies took charge in July 2025 after Christian Horner’s 20-year tenure ended, having previously led sister team Racing Bulls and worked at Ferrari. The extension follows a turnaround after a difficult start to the 2026 season: Max Verstappen has won the last two races, in Malaysia and Singapore, and Red Bull is within seven points of third-placed McLaren in the constructors’ standings. Verstappen has committed to Red Bull through 2030, providing continuity in both team leadership and its star driver.
