Red Wings Near Seven-Year, $91M DeBrincat Deal

The Detroit Red Wings and Alex DeBrincat have reportedly agreed to terms on a seven-year extension worth about $90 million to $91 million, or roughly $13 million annually. The 28-year-old winger is coming off a career-best 41-goal, 85-point season and was approaching unrestricted free agency. Under the reported terms, the extension would make him the team's highest-paid player and keep him in Detroit through his prime. The deal has not yet been signed or officially announced. The Red Wings would retain a leading scorer to build around as they seek to end their decade-long playoff drought.
