Valkyries Take 1-0 Finals Lead Over Dream
The Golden State Valkyries beat the Atlanta Dream 68-64 in Game 1 of the 2026 WNBA Finals, taking a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series and pursuing their first championship in only their second season. Atlanta, seeking its first title, entered the Finals after a 10-game winning streak and a semifinal sweep of the defending champion Las Vegas Aces; star Allisha Gray returned after missing two semifinal games with a finger injury. The series opened before a sellout crowd at Golden State’s Chase Center, with the Valkyries holding home-court advantage after sweeping the regular-season series. Strong ticket demand pushed reported get-in prices to about $195 for Game 1 and $200 for Game 3, while Game 1’s average purchase price was reported at $355. Atlanta’s Games 3 and 4 were moved from the 3,500-seat Gateway Center Arena to State Farm Arena to accommodate larger crowds.
