76ers Lose Preseason Finale to Celtics in Overtime
LeBron James is beginning his record 24th NBA season with the Philadelphia 76ers, who are managing his workload as he approaches 42 and prioritize staying healthy for the playoffs. In Friday’s preseason finale, James had eight points, eight rebounds and seven assists as Philadelphia lost 125-120 to Boston in overtime. Joel Embiid scored 27 points, Tyrese Maxey had 22 and Jaylen Brown had 20 in his first game against Boston since leaving the Celtics for the 76ers in the offseason after 10 years with the team. Brown said Philadelphia is still learning to play together. The 76ers next play the New York Knicks in their regular-season opener Tuesday.
