Kansas freshman Tyran Stokes, the top-ranked recruit in the 2026 class, was named Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year and selected to the conference’s preseason all-league team. He is the second consecutive Kansas player to receive the freshman honor and the 11th Jayhawk to win it in the award’s 31-year history. Conference coaches picked Kansas to finish third, behind Arizona and Houston. Stokes also earned a spot on CBS Sports’ Preseason First Team All-America, adding to expectations that he could be among the nation’s leading players this season.
