Seahawks Coach Backs Darnold Amid Bench Calls

Seattle fell to 3-3 after losing 17-14 to Denver in overtime, despite outgaining the Broncos 353-168 and rallying from an 11-point deficit. Sam Darnold threw two interceptions, including an overtime pick that set up Denver’s winning field goal, and has seven interceptions in four games since returning from injury. The turnovers have fueled calls to consider backup Drew Lock, who went 4-0 without an interception while filling in earlier this season, but coach Mike Macdonald has backed Darnold, saying the team has faith in him and sees him as part of the solution. Seattle’s offensive struggles have also prompted concerns about the offense and protection, while Darnold’s $35.5 million compensation for 2027 is not guaranteed and a March roster bonus is due. The Seahawks will look to regroup before facing Kansas City.
