Dodgers Expect Ohtani to Pitch Again in 2027

Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said Shohei Ohtani does not need offseason surgery and is expected to be rested and ready to pitch again in 2027. Ohtani’s 2026 season was disrupted by knee inflammation, arm soreness and other issues, and the Dodgers stopped him from pitching in July; his hitting also declined late in the season. Los Angeles was swept by Milwaukee in the NLCS, despite Ohtani’s three-run homer in Game 4, which he reportedly pushed to play after the Dodgers considered sitting him. Analysts say the Dodgers should reassess how they manage his two-way workload, while Ohtani has said he wants to continue pitching and hitting.
