Jalen Duren Signs $200 Million Pistons Extension

Jalen Duren is entering the season aiming to expand his game beyond the paint, with improved ball handling and midrange shooting among the areas he has worked to develop. After a contract dispute and delayed arrival to camp, he signed a five-year extension and made an emphatic preseason debut, scoring 24 points on 8-for-9 shooting in 15 minutes against Minnesota. His growth will be tested against varied opposing centers, including strong rim protectors and bigs who can draw him away from the basket—matchups that also revisit challenges he faced in the playoffs. Duren opened the season with 22 points and nine rebounds as Detroit erased a 22-point deficit to beat Boston, reinforcing his confidence in the Pistons’ gritty identity.
