Portugal Suspends Ronaldo for 30 Days After Camp Exit
The Portuguese Football Federation suspended Cristiano Ronaldo for 30 days and fined him €255 after ruling that he intentionally left the national-team camp without authorization before Portugal’s match against Denmark. The 41-year-old departed after a dispute with coach Jorge Jesus over playing time, having been an unused substitute against Norway; Jesus denied making the agreements Ronaldo said were broken. Ronaldo apologized to his teammates and supporters, said he would accept the punishment and reaffirmed his availability to represent Portugal. The federation has not clarified which fixtures the ban covers or whether time served under a provisional suspension will count toward it. The sanction does not rule out Ronaldo’s return to the national team, and federation president Pedro Proença has expressed support for his continuing role.
