Several MLB Teams May Regret Recent Trades

Several MLB teams are weighing the costs of trades and roster decisions. Houston’s Joey Loperfido earned the Opening Day left-field job after strong limited production, but a quadriceps injury and post-return slump clouded his outlook; the Astros also may regret acquiring Daulton Varsho after he struggled and required season-ending wrist surgery, while the pitcher they traded, Spencer Arrighetti, remains under team control. Houston could also address its infield logjam by trading Isaac Paredes to make room for Carlos Correa at third base, though Correa’s injury history and the risk of weakening the position complicate that option. Miami may regret trading catcher Liam Hicks, who performed well for Tampa Bay and left the Marlins seeking a first-base solution. San Francisco’s Rafael Devers deal has also drawn second thoughts as former Giant Kyle Harrison found success elsewhere, although Devers has delivered consecutive 30-homer seasons for the Giants.
