Pimlico and Preakness Stakes Reveal New Brands for 2027 Return

Maryland officials unveiled new identities for Pimlico Race Course and the Preakness Stakes ahead of the race’s expected return to a redeveloped Pimlico in May 2027. The designs incorporate the Maryland flag, Pimlico’s weathervane and cupola, and the black-eyed Susan, drawing on more than 280 years of racing history. Developed over nearly 10 months with input from public officials, racing stakeholders and Park Heights community advocates, the branding is intended to honor the sport’s traditions while signaling its future in Maryland. The $400 million redevelopment is expected to make Pimlico a year-round racing hub with more than 100 racing days annually, up from about 15, and support more than 500 jobs. The Preakness was held at Laurel Park in 2026 while Pimlico was under redevelopment.
