Harry Brook Scores England’s First ODI Double Century
England captain Harry Brook scored 202 from 116 balls against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, becoming the first Englishman to make an ODI double century and setting a record for the fastest men’s ODI double hundred, reaching 200 in 114 balls and surpassing Shubman Gill’s 117-ball mark. His innings included 21 fours and 10 sixes, and surpassed England’s previous individual ODI score record of 182. England made 429-4, the highest ODI total recorded in Pakistan, with Joe Root scoring 69, Tom Banton making 50 and Will Jacks finishing unbeaten on 66 after sharing a 185-run stand with Brook from 77 balls. The performance followed England’s 87-run loss to Pakistan in the tri-series opener, after which Brook said his side had been too cautious against spin.
