Brewers, Rays Set World Series Game 1 Starters

The Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays open the World Series Friday in Milwaukee, with Jacob Misiorowski facing Nick Martinez. Misiorowski led the majors with a 1.80 ERA and 252 strikeouts, including a record-setting number of pitches at 100 mph or faster, but he has not worked five innings in either of his first two postseason starts. Martinez has won both of his postseason starts; Rays manager Kevin Cash chose him over Drew Rasmussen to manage Rasmussen’s October workload, with Rasmussen expected to start Game 2 and Freddy Peralta lined up for Game 3. Tampa Bay reliever Cam Booser, who had a 1.98 regular-season ERA after a poor season with the White Sox, has also remained effective in the playoffs. Both franchises are seeking their first championship, and Milwaukee is returning to the World Series for the first time since 1982.
