Como Rout United as Carrick Faces Pressure
Manchester United lost 4-1 to Como in the Champions League, conceding in the second minute and extending their winless run to seven matches. Nico Paz scored twice, with Tasos Douvikas and Jacobo Ramon also scoring for Como; Joshua Zirkzee scored United’s late consolation. Captain Bruno Fernandes questioned United’s decision not to press Como man-to-man, saying they needed to be braver and press higher. Manager Michael Carrick said United had partly used that approach in the second half, called the team’s failure to run and compete unacceptable, and accepted responsibility for the result. The defeat leaves United with two wins in 11 matches this season and intensifies pressure on Carrick, whose future could be discussed by club leaders before Sunday’s game against Bournemouth.
