Red Wings Recall Postava Under Emergency Conditions
The Detroit Red Wings recalled goaltender Michal Postava from the Grand Rapids Griffins under emergency conditions for their West Coast road trip. Detroit also activated forward J.T. Compher from injured reserve and assigned Sheldon Dries to Grand Rapids. Postava, 24, is 4-0 to start the AHL season with a 1.25 goals-against average and .954 save percentage; in 2025-26, he shared the AHL’s Harry “Hap” Holmes Memorial Award. The team has not explained the emergency recall or indicated that NHL goalies John Gibson or Daniil Tarasov are unavailable, leaving Postava’s role unclear; he has yet to appear in an NHL game.
