Texas Beats Ole Miss, Loses Goosby for Season

Texas defeated Ole Miss after entering the game on consecutive losses, but suffered a major injury when All-American offensive tackle Trevor Goosby hurt his knee and was reported out for the season. Goosby, a projected first-round NFL draft pick, was Texas’ top-graded offensive lineman and had not allowed a sack; senior Andre Cojoe replaced him. Receiver Cam Coleman also left with a shoulder injury, with no diagnosis reported. Before the game, Texas had ruled out star edge rusher Colin Simmons, who leads the nation with 10.5 sacks and 16 tackles for loss, and freshman edge rusher Richard Wesley; starting running back Hollywood Smothers had been downgraded to doubtful. The injuries leave Texas without key contributors on both lines and in the backfield.
