Lions Activate Branch, Mays; Jacobs Set for Packers Debut
The Detroit Lions activated safety Brian Branch and center Cade Mays for their Week 7 NFC North game against the Green Bay Packers after Branch recovered from an Achilles injury and Mays from a wrist injury; coach Dan Campbell plans to start Mays and will assess Branch’s workload after more than 10 months away. Green Bay activated running back Josh Jacobs, who is set to make his season debut after missing six games on the NFL Commissioner’s Exempt List. Coach Matt LaFleur plans to gradually ramp up Jacobs and monitor how he responds, as the Packers have struggled to run the ball without him; quarterback Jordan Love also practiced and is expected to play. Jacobs pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges stemming from a May incident, was convicted of battery, and received a fine and deferred judgment on a property-damage charge. The NFL’s conduct investigation remains active, and time missed may count toward any future suspension; Green Bay also activated defensive tackle Jordon Riley and made additional roster moves ahead of Sunday’s game.
