Burnley sack Hayen after 4-1 Lincoln defeat

Burnley have sacked head coach Nicky Hayen after a 4-1 defeat at Lincoln City left the club 22nd and in the Championship relegation zone. Appointed in July to lead a promotion push after Scott Parker’s departure, Hayen managed only one league win during a difficult start to the season. Burnley have conceded 25 goals in their opening 12 league matches, and the Lincoln loss was their sixth defeat of the campaign. The club announced his dismissal shortly after the match; it has not yet named a replacement or said who will take interim charge.
