Diverse Runners Prepare for NYC Marathon

The 2026 TCS New York City Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 1, with about 60,000 runners expected on the five-borough course, marking the 50th anniversary of that route. The elite field includes marathon debutants Weini Kelati, Patrick Kiprop, Andreas Almgren, Cailie Hughes and Ahmed Muhamed. Brooklyn runner Jessica Reilly, 25, plans to race two days before a preventive bilateral mastectomy after learning she carries a BRCA1 mutation. University of Alabama professor Benjamin Boudreaux, who has Type 1 diabetes and autism, is also running and says exercise supports his well-being and informs his teaching and research; a Bronx amputee is set to compete as well. Celebrities including Jennifer Connelly and Tiki Barber are among the participants, and organizers aim to raise $100 million for charity partners.
