MacKinnon’s four points fuel Avalanche’s 6-3 win
Nathan MacKinnon scored a goal and added three assists as the Colorado Avalanche beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-3, ending Colorado’s two-game skid and Tampa Bay’s three-game winning streak. Colorado took an early lead, with Nazem Kadri scoring his first goal of the season, and Mackenzie Blackwood made 31 saves. Martin Necas, Devon Toews, Fedor Svechkov and Artturi Lehkonen also scored for Colorado, while Jake Guentzel scored twice for Tampa Bay, which struggled to capitalize on power-play chances. MacKinnon’s four-point performance tied him with Joe Sakic for third in Avalanche history in games with at least three assists. Nikita Kucherov remained tied with Steven Stamkos for Tampa Bay’s franchise points record, one point short of surpassing him, and Logan O’Connor made his season debut after recovering from a lower-body injury.
