Police Called to Dispute Over 3-Year-Old Soccer Player
A dispute at an i9 Sports youth soccer game in Winter Park, Florida, drew widespread attention after videos showed three-year-old Nevada scoring repeatedly and police arriving at the field. His parents said the league targeted him because he was exceptionally good; league official Thomas Hayes told officers Nevada was advanced but pushed other children, and said the parents caused a disturbance after he rotated the boy out so others could play. Winter Park police said the call concerned an allegedly disruptive parent, not Nevada’s soccer ability, and described the matter as a civil dispute; officers issued no trespass warning and filed no charges. The league removed Nevada, offered a refund, and said it had contacted the family and was reviewing the incident. The competing accounts and viral footage prompted public backlash and calls to support the young player.
