Johnson’s Overtime Goal Lifts Blue Jackets Over Flyers
Kent Johnson scored twice, including the overtime winner, as the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 after giving up a three-goal first-period lead. Philadelphia outshot Columbus 28-6 over the final two periods and tied the game with 11 seconds remaining, but Johnson scored on a two-on-none breakaway in overtime. The win gave Columbus consecutive victories for the first time this season, while Philadelphia has earned points in four of its last five games. Before the matchup, Flyers linemates Matvei Michkov and Porter Martone had been building momentum, and Philadelphia’s power play had scored in four straight games.
