Putellas Ties Bonmatí with Third Ballon d'Or
Alexia Putellas won the 2026 Ballon d’Or Féminin for a third time, tying Spain teammate Aitana Bonmatí’s women’s record and becoming the first player from a Women’s Super League club to win the award. She was honoured for captaining Barcelona to a quadruple in her final season, including the Champions League and a seventh consecutive Liga F title, and was named Champions League Player of the Season. Putellas scored 21 goals and provided 13 assists across competitions before joining London City Lionesses after 14 years at Barcelona. Bonmatí missed much of the season with a leg fracture, while Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor and Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw were among the other leading contenders.
