Jones Open to Aikman Role With Cowboys
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he would consider bringing Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman into a major role with Dallas, although no plans are in place; Aikman said he would consider talking with Jones if he could help the team. The possibility comes as Aikman’s ESPN contract nears its end: ESPN has not made him a formal offer, while Joe Buck reportedly agreed to an extension. Reports of an off-air argument between the longtime broadcast partners before a Bills-Rams game have raised questions about their future together, though they remained professional on air and are expected to call the Super Bowl. Aikman has limited front-office experience, including consulting for the Miami Dolphins during their general manager search, and has previously said he would consider opportunities with Dallas or Miami. The NFL has said it is not concerned about the situation disrupting its broadcast schedule.
