Raymond lifts Red Wings past Oilers 4-3
The Detroit Red Wings beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 in a shootout. Lucas Raymond scored the only shootout goal and had two assists in regulation. Michal Postava stopped 25 shots in regulation and three shootout attempts, including Connor McDavid's, in his first NHL start. Dylan Larkin tied it with 1:17 left after Detroit pulled its goalie. Viktor Arvidsson scored a power-play one-timer and Emmitt Finnie a tap-in for Detroit. Vasily Podkolzin, Isaac Howard and Colton Dach scored for Edmonton. McDavid's points streak reached 12 games and 34 points. Zach Hyman left with a suspected concussion. Postava said, "It's amazing, I feel like a kid." Coach Todd McLellan said, "He's very athletic," and that Postava anticipates so well he can read where the shot release is going. Postava is the third Red Wings goalie in 25 years to win his first NHL start, after Jimmy Howard in 2005 and Petr Mrazek in 2013. Steve Yzerman said last summer the organization was "very impressed" with him. No factual disputes appear across the rated coverage. Left-rated headlines focused on Raymond's shootout winner completing the rally. Right-rated headlines highlighted Postava's starring role and Detroit forcing overtime before the shootout win.
