Benson Thanks Fans After NFL’s Historic Paris Game

After the Saints’ 16-10 loss to the Steelers in the first NFL game played in France, which left New Orleans at 2-5, owner Gayle Benson thanked fans and other attendees who traveled to Paris. She called the week historic and praised how the Saints represented New Orleans and Louisiana, while saying the trip created opportunities for business, tourism, cultural exchange and stronger ties with France. The appreciative letter struck a markedly warmer tone than Benson’s earlier criticism of the team’s performance, which she had called “unacceptable,” prompting notice from fans and reporters.
