Garcia Plans LIV Exit, Targets Ryder Cup Return
Sergio Garcia plans to leave LIV Golf and play full time on the DP World Tour in 2027, while keeping open the possibility of returning to the PGA Tour. He sought to end his LIV contract through bankruptcy proceedings and is among players who have declined to commit to the league’s revamped format. Garcia hopes to qualify for major events, including the Masters, and earn a place on Europe’s Ryder Cup team at Adare Manor; he has spoken with captain Luke Donald and is willing to help in another capacity. Gaps in his DP World Tour membership may make him ineligible to be captain or vice-captain, while a playing spot would require him to regain membership and earn selection. Garcia has also expressed remorse for his Masters outburst and said he is focused on his mindset, mental health and game.
