Mariners exercise Muñoz option and decline two others
The Seattle Mariners exercised closer Andrés Muñoz’s $8 million club option for 2027 and declined options for pitcher Bryce Miller and outfielder Victor Robles. Miller remains under team control and is arbitration-eligible, with Seattle reportedly expecting to retain him at a lower cost; Robles will become a free agent. Muñoz had a career-high 4.24 ERA and 28 saves, while Miller posted a 4.17 ERA in 118⅔ innings and Robles saw limited action over the past two seasons. Houston declined reliever Ryan Weiss’s $5 million option, paying a $500,000 buyout and sending him into free agency. A separate report said Arizona may need to upgrade at first base and designated hitter after receiving major-league-worst production at first base, while managing Nolan Arenado’s workload as he approaches age 36.
