Rockets Exercise Reed Sheppard Fourth-Year Option
The Houston Rockets exercised Reed Sheppard’s fourth-year team option, guaranteeing him $14.04 million for the 2027-28 season and making him eligible for a rookie extension this summer. The 2024 third overall pick is a regular part of the rotation, averaging 10.5 points this season after earning sixth-man recognition last season. Sheppard is sidelined with a back injury and will miss consecutive games against Dallas and Oklahoma City; he is considered questionable for Monday’s matchup with Boston. Fred VanVleet is also out against Oklahoma City, creating an opening for Marcus Smart to start.
