Ninth Circuit revives NFL antitrust verdict on Sunday Ticket deals

A Ninth Circuit appeals court reinstated the jury’s finding that the NFL violated antitrust law through its Sunday Ticket practices, reviving a class-action case over allegedly inflated prices for out-of-market games. The lawsuit covers subscribers and businesses that bought Sunday Ticket from 2011 to 2022. The court found that the trial judge improperly excluded subscribers’ expert testimony, but upheld a new trial on damages after finding the original $4.7 billion award’s calculation flawed; the NFL says it is disappointed, and either side may seek further review.
