Heat installs new head on Dwyane Wade statue after criticism
The Miami Heat have replaced the head on Dwyane Wade’s statue outside Kaseya Center after the original 2024 unveiling drew widespread criticism for failing to resemble the Hall of Famer. Wade said he agreed to the changes after listening to public reaction, while sculptors Omri Amrany and Oscar Leon said they saw an opportunity to improve the portrait after viewing the statue in its permanent setting. The revised head was made in Chicago and installed over two days, preserving the statue’s pose honoring Wade’s 2009 game-winning shot and “This is my house” celebration. Wade said the goal was for Miami fans to feel the same connection to the statue as they did to that moment.
